In a recent study evaluating MrFeed® protein quality conducted by the Instituto de Nutrición de Centro América y Panamá (INCAP), MrFeed® diets were found to have high nutritional value with the greatest protein efficiency ratio compared to a control diet.
Proteins vary according to their origin (animal, vegetable), amino acid composition, digestibility, texture and other factors. A good quality protein is indicated when these factors are readily available and when the essential amino acids correspond to the animal requirements. The current study evaluated cumulative weight gain of Spraque Dawley rats consuming control vs. MrFeed® diets. Protein quality was evaluated by calculating Protein Efficiency Ratio and Apparent Digestibility of the study diets compared to the control. The resulting data suggests that the MrFeed® has great potential in human nutrition.
