Dr. Rick Barrows, Ph.D. Dr. Barrows had a long and illustrious career as a Research Nutritionist working for the Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. He is an affiliate professor at the University of Idaho and Montana State University and has published numerous papers and is a well-known speaker in national and international venues.
Dr. Barrows has been conducting nutrition research, and developing larval, grower and brood feeds, for a variety of fresh water and marine species of fin fish such as Salmon, trout, sea bream and grouper for more than 25 years. His primary research focus is the interaction of feed processing technology and formulation / nutritional value and is actively involved in development and evaluation of alternate ingredient sources.
Hau Huynh Mrs. Hau Huynh received her Veterinarian license in 1994 from the Agricultural Forestry University in Vietnam. She worked over 10 years in various technical positions at Bayer Viet Nam Ltd, working on vaccines and feed trials in pig, poultry, shrimp and fish. In 2008, she joined the ACC – Trading company Vietnam helping it grow its business in feed additives and feed ingredients for animal feed. She held the position of Technical Sales Manager for 8 years at ACC. During this time she was able to enhance her knowledge working closely with experts in animal nutrition and various experts at customer locations. She left ACC in 2018 and has established her own consultancy business in natural products for animal health.
Dr. Jon Holt Dr. Dr. Holt grew up on a small livestock farm in southwest Minnesota. He earned his B.S and M.S. degrees in Animal Science at the University of Minnesota and a Phd. in Animal Science and Nutrition from North Carolina State University in 2008. He spent two years as an Assistant Professor at Illinois State University teaching classes in agriculture and conducting swine research. Dr. Holt then moved into a swine nutrition technical consulting role with a small feed company in the Midwest before joining Ralco Nutrition where he was involved in technical consulting and directing research activities in swine and poultry. In his role with Ralco Nutrition, Dr. Holt was also responsible for leading a large commercial effort in shrimp production and nutrition. Dr. Holt has consulted internationally spending time in Taiwan, Ecuador and Canada. In 2018, Dr. Holt joined North Carolina State University as an Assistant Professor where he coordinates a research, education and outreach program focused on the areas of swine production and nutrition.
Dr. Darryl Jory is a marine biologist and businessman with over 30 years of experience in several countries in four continents where he provided services as a commercial aquaculture facility developer, manager and advisor. He also has significant experience in aquaculture teaching and R&D, and has been a company owner and director – including aquaculture and aquafeeds -in various countries. He specializes in strategic planning, and the development, management and support of commercial, integrated shrimp and fish aquaculture businesses. Dr. Jory was an Adjunct Professor of Aquaculture at the University of Miami Graduate Marine Science School from 1988 to 2017. He is also the founding editor (1997-2015) of the Global Aquaculture Advocate trade magazine and is currently its Editor Emeritus.
Dr. Jory has B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Marine Biology and Aquatic Resources from the University of Miami (Florida, USA); and an Executive M.B.A. degree in International Business & Operations Management from Nova Southeastern University (Florida, USA). He was a Fulbright Scholar Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oriente, Venezuela during 1987-1989. Dr. Jory has participated as a keynote and invited speaker at major scientific congresses, meetings and workshops worldwide (over 150 events in 28 countries), and has several papers, articles, book chapters, and books and monographs published.
Mr. Mario Lopez, MSc.. Mr. Lopez received a BS in Zootechnics / Animal Husbandry from the University of San Carlos of Guatamala and a MSc from the Technology and Food Science Center at the Institute of Nutrition for Central America and Panama. Since then he has been actively engaged in the Central American poultry, livestock and aquaculture industry’s including roles as a Broiler and Breeder Farm Manager, Technical Sales Manager and Business Development manager responsible for developing and implementing feed and feed additives for a variety of animal and aquaculture species. During his career he has worked with Reproductores Avicolas, BASF Guatemala, Biomin America and Novus International. He is currently working with Diana Aqua developing their aqua feed business including working with clients on food formulation
Mr. Dylan Ooi. Mr. Ooi received a BA. Hons (major in marketing) from the University of Hertfordshire (UK) in 1998. Upon his return to Malaysia, he started his own shrimp farming business before joining City Marine Products Sdn Bhd, a pioneer and well respected company in Malaysia’s shrimp industry. Mr. Ooi held several sales and marketing roles at City Marine Products before being named as one of the directors of the Company in 2007. City Marine Products Sdn Bhd has a broad business scope that includes the sale and marketing of shrimp, post larvae, fish feed and shrimp feed supplements. They also provide technical support and other products related to the shrimp industry. During Mr. Ooi’s tenure in City Marine Products Sdn Bhd, he was in charge of its shrimp farms operation which consisted of about 350 ponds. He was also in charge of the northern region shrimp feed market and was responsible for marketing post larvae throughout Malaysia. Mr. Ooi left City Marine Products in 2014 and has established his own company, Oceanic Base Aquaculture Sdn Bhd, which focuses on the shrimp farming business. Oceanic Base Aquaculture Sdn Bhd consists of 4 farms with 45 ponds and also manages several smaller operations. Recently, Oceanic Base Aquaculture Sdn Bhd started its own hatchery to produce post larvae for our own farm use.
Dr. Victor Suresh, Ph.D. Dr. Victor Suresh received his Ph.D in Aquaculture from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Dr. Suresh started his professional career in R&D at Ralston Purina International and has been in the animal feed sector for the past 16 years specializing in formulation, feed processing technology, new product development / testing, technical marketing, and business management. In 2011 he founded United Research (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., a company that provided technical and R&D services to the livestock and aquaculture industry throughout the world.
Mr. Apostolos Tzoumas, DVM, MSc, MSc. Mr. Tzoumas has been one of the prominent technical/managerial figures of the sector of Mediterranean marine fish farming with more than 30 years of international experience in planning, developing and managing aquaculture businesses, as well as in aquaculture and fish health consulting and B2B sales (aquafeeds, fish juveniles and technology transfer services). He held various managerial positions for Nireus group of Greece (Fish farming Operations mgr, Project development mgr, Industrial Sales Manager, General mgr of M.East subsidiaries, Board member) and served as General Manager of Asmak Public Joint Stock Co. of UAE and Bluefin Tuna Hellas groups, and Technical Mgr of Galaxidi Marine Farms.
He has a BSc in Veterinary Medicine and 2 Masters degrees from the University of Stirling, Scotland in “Aquatic Veterinary Studies” and “Aquaculture and Fisheries Management” and has carried out research on fish larval nutrition and fish microbiology in the UK. He speaks fluently 4 languages (English, French, Italian, and Greek). He has helped create and chaired for many years the Tuna farming commission of the Federation of European Aquaculture Producers.
Dr. Jesús Zendejas Hernández received his bachelor’s degree in Hydrobiology in 1981 at the National Autonomous Metropolitan University, Mexico and in 1984 received his MSc. in Aquaculture Nutrition at Sterling University, Scotland. He has worked at the Mexican Ministry of Fisheries responsible for their national tilapia hybridization program and in 1985 was promoted to the position of Aquaculture Health and Nutrition Manager with the Ministry of Fisheries (SEPESCA). In 1988 he joined Ralston Purina to develop their shrimp feed portfolio for Mexico and in 2001 was promoted to the position of Aquaculture R&D Manager. By 2003 he had added responsibility for Aquaculture Marketing and he remained as part of the global R&D aquaculture team following the acquisition of Ralston Purina by Cargill. From More recently, from 2015, to 2017, Zendejas was Cargill’s Regional Aquaculture Technology Application Manager from Mexico to Central America and in September 2018, when he left Cargill, he was the Manager for the Technology Application Center that was being built in Ecuador responsible for the evaluation of semi-intensive, hyper-intensive and bio-flock raceway shrimp farming systems.
Dr. Zendejas is currently operating as a renewable feed specialist consultant with Menon Renewable Products, supporting the introduction of Mr Feed® to global markets.
Jim Broussalian, M.S., MBA is a food scientist and new product innovation expert with extensive experience in the food & beverage industry. His company, QSR Innovations, collaborates with start-ups to bring their concepts to market and with established companies to enhance their innovation process. Technical support includes food science problem-solving, manufacturing procedures, food safety/quality assurance systems, regulatory and nutritional labeling. As an entrepreneur, Jim developed a line of gluten free, plant based tortillas made from potatoes, Potapas brand, and launched a company to market them. Earlier in his career, he led product teams at Baskin-Robbins, Taco Bell and Jack in the Box to introduce transformational, award winning menu items. Jim received a B.A. in Biology from Johns Hopkins University, M.S. in Food Science from the University of Maryland and an MBA from USC. He is working with Menon to develop food products incorporating its ingredient technology.
